CEPA board meeting at the DHPol Münster
On 09 and 10 November 2021, the board of the Central European Police Academy met at the German Police University in Münster-Hiltrup. In this decision-making body of CEPA, senior representatives of the police forces from the seven CEPA member countries are represented to discuss and decide on the operational and strategic direction of CEPA. The new board members from Germany and Slovenia were especially welcomed. On the agenda, in addition to dealing with CEPA activities in the form of technical seminars and job shadowing in the current and next year, was especially the "Certified CEPA Course 2022". Formerly known as the CEPA Main Course, this seven-week training event forms the core of CEPA's advanced training courses and will be held for the first time next year as an NQF-certified course in a new format. Participants who successfully complete the course with a written and oral examination will be able to earn ECTS credits that can be recognized at universities in CEPA countries. With this certification, an important step has now been taken for the future of CEPA.
Follow-up seminar for CEPA main course graduates of 1993, 1994, 1995, 2005, 2014 and 2015 in Budapest
In Hungary, in the Center for International Training, the follow-up seminar for the CEPA main course graduates of the years 1993, 1994, 1995, 2005, 2014 and 2015 took place between September 27 and October 01, 2021. A total of 20 participants had the opportunity to meet again in Budapest.
The event was opened by the Hungarian CEPA Board of Trustees member, Brigadier General Dr. István FARKAS, Director of the Center for International Training.
The aims of the seminar were both the exchange of the latest information on investigative methods and international criminal police cooperation, as well as the establishment and maintenance of contacts among the seminar participants.
The presentations and lectures on the current presentation of the new means and methods in the prevention and combating of organized crime, the significance of the Schengen rules for criminal and border police work, taking into account particular structural issues, and new ways and forms of international and national cooperation were provided by the seminar participants.
Based on the positive feedback from the seminar participants, this CEPA advanced training for former CEPA main course graduates will be offered again to other course graduates next year.

Course leader meeting in Budapest for the CEPA course 2022 - "Prevention of and fight against transnational crime".
From 07 to 09 September 2021, the course leader meeting for the CEPA course 2022 was held in Budapest.
This CEPA Course 2022, formerly called CEPA Main Course, appears in a new format because this MEPA advanced training has been assigned on NQF Level V since 01 July 2021.
The course instructors from the seven CEPA countries planned the schedule and content for this practice-oriented advanced training on the central theme of "Preventing and Combating Transnational Crime.
In 2022, course participants will be introduced to the latest trends and methods for combating organized crime by experts from the CEPA countries. The focus will be on international and cross-border cooperation and the development of joint combat strategies. The topics will include the classic OC crimes. The participants will also be presented with modern and latest methods of fighting OC.
As in previous years, participants will attend a workshop as part of their training. At the end of the course, the elaborated results will be presented and assessed in front of an examination board after written evaluation by the workshop supervisors.
At the end of the course, each course participant has to conduct a technical discussion in front of the examination commission, in which the elaborated results of the workshop are defended and questions are assessed in terms of the learning outcomes.
Following the positively completed oral examination, each participant receives the certificate for acquiring the qualification title "CEPA Course - Preventing and Combating Transnational Crime".
Conclusion of the 28th CEPA Main Course 2020 in Budapest/Hungary
On September 10, 2021, the 28th CEPA Main Course 2020 was concluded in Budapest at the Center for International Training during a graduation ceremony with the awarding of certificates.
This course started on February 17, 2020 in Prague. This CEPA advanced training was interrupted after four weeks on March 13, 2020 in Ljubljana, due to the ongoing spread of coronavirus in the member countries of the Central European Police Academy. The final week of this course was now held in Budapest in the period from 05 to 10 September 2021.
Police practitioners coming from the seven CEPA member countries had the opportunity to participate in this MEPA advanced training at five locations - Prague (CZ), Schmitten (D), Biel (CH), Ljubljana (SLO) and Budapest (H).
The focus of this advanced training was to teach and deepen investigative and combat strategies in the field of cross-border / international criminal police cooperation.
During the course, the participants worked on the workshop on the main topic "Economic crime exploiting the Internet / money laundering". The results of the workshop were elaborated in writing.
The written results of the workshop will be made available to all investigators in CEPA countries, which will allow those police officers who did not participate in the course to benefit from the results. In addition, the results will be available for download in the Insider on the CEPA homepage.
Mr. Univ. Dipl.lu r. Vladimir Pocek, Liaison Officer from Slovenia in Vienna, mentioned the importance of CEPA in international police cooperation during the keynote speech.
Within the framework of the closing ceremony, the meeting of the course leaders of the CEPA countries was also held. Besides evaluating the results of the current main course, the experts and representatives of CEPA defined the first concrete tasks of the next CEPA course in 2022.
CEPA main course certified on NQF level 5
As of 01 July 2021, the CEPA course - Prevention of and Fight against Transnational Crime is assigned to the Austrian Qualification Register at NQF level V (https://www.qualifikationsregister.at/public/qualification/94/). A significant milestone for the "Future of CEPA" has been achieved thanks to this certification. Finally, CEPA is now one of the first police training institutions in Europe to have a qualification mapped to a National Qualifications Framework (NQF). National Qualifications Frameworks (NQFs) are instruments for classifying qualifications of individual education systems. On the one hand, this transparency instrument facilitates orientation in the respective education system and, on the other hand, contributes to the comparability and comprehensibility of national qualifications in Europe. Via the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) as a translation tool, all nationally assigned qualifications are referenced and thus made comparable.
The MEPA Book 2021 has been published
The updated edition of the MEPA Book 2021 has been published.
The book is divided into a general part and seven country chapters. The general section covers the topics "MEPA", "International Police Cooperation" and "International Mutual Legal Assistance".
The country chapters contain explanations of the respective legal situation, the organization of the police, the crime situation and control strategies.
Since the book is intended to serve as a reference work for participants in the main and special courses in particular, it has been provided with search and research options as well as bookmarks and links.

News about the CEPA training courses 2021
The CEPA training courses planned for the first half of the year unfortunately had to be cancelled or postponed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the associated travel restrictions in the CEPA countries.
The two specialized seminars "Internationally acting groups of offenders specializing in residential house and apartment burglary" and "Environmental crime" will be offered again in 2022.
The final week of the 28th CEPA main course in 2020 on the topic of "Prevention of and fight against internationally relevant crime" is to be held in Budapest from 5 to 10
CEPA activities for the year 2021
The trainings for the coming year were determined at the CEPA Board of Trustees conference.
The courses, seminars and job shadowing listed in the CEPA Activities Catalog 2021 were decided by the CEPA Board of Trustees.
There will be again in 2021 the seven-week CEPA main course "Prevention of and Fight against Internationally Relevant Crime" and the four-week CEPA special course "Cross-Border Cooperation in Compensatory Measures as well as in Border Police Tasks". Specialized seminars on criminal and border police topics will also be held.
The Central Coordination Office invites the decision makers as well as all other responsible persons in the CEPA member countries to actively support the realization of all the CEPA activities.
