Further training offers of the Central European Police Academy
Dear reader,
The training courses of the Central European Police Academy could unfortunately not be implemented as planned in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore we will offer seminar topics from this year again in 2021, where there was a great interest in applicants. For the third and fourth quarters of 2021, it is planned that CEPA will organize the main course on "Prevention and Control of Internationally Relevant Crime" and the special course on "Cross-border Cooperation in Compensatory Measures and Border Police Tasks". In addition to these two courses, we intend to offer again several seminars on criminal and border police topics. The CEPA's activities in 2021 will again include visits to police departments. The final catalog of activities for the coming year will be published at the end of the year.

CEPA Course Director Meeting for the 29th CEPA Main Course 2021
From September 1 to 3, the course instructors' conference for the 29th CEPA Main Course 2021 was held in Vienna at the Security Academy.
The course instructors and police experts from the seven CEPA countries planned the schedule for the 29th CEPA Main Course on Preventing and Combating Internationally Relevant Crime to be held in the CEPA countries in 2021. At the same time, the contents for this course were defined, with the focus on the fight against organized crime.
The CEPA Main Course will last seven weeks and have a total of 26 participants. The participants will be sent from the seven CEPA countries. The course duration of seven weeks requires that one course week be held in all CEPA countries. The last week will be organized by Hungary, where the ceremonial end of the course will also be celebrated.
The course starts on September 13, 2021 in the Czech Republic in Prague and ends on October 29, 2021 in Budapest with the ceremonial end of the course.
During the MEPA course, experts from the MEPA countries will present to the participants the latest trends and methods for fighting organized crime. The focus will be on international and regional cooperation. The current forms of crime on the Internet and the associated fight strategies will also be given special emphasis in the course. The focus of this CEPA training course is on working on a practical case study, which will be elaborated in a workshop. At the end of the training the participants will present their results on the workshop topics to an international audience of experts.

Due to the current developments in the corona pandemic and the different national measures, the 26th CEPA Special Course 2020 cannot be organized.

Case Study Economic Crime Using the Internet Money Laundering
During the 28th CEPA Main Course 2020" the participants of the course worked on the workshop on the main topic "Economic Crime Using the Internet - Money Laundering". The final version was sent to the Central Coordination Office of CEPA.
The written results of the workshop will be made available to all investigators in the CEPA countries, so that also those police officers who did not participate in the course can benefit from the results.

End of the 28th CEPA Main Course 2020
Due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus in the member countries of the Central European Police Academy, the 28th CEPA Main Course will end on Friday 13 March 2020 in Ljubljana.
Cancellation of the course week of the 28th CEPA Main Course 2020 in Vienna
Due to the current spread of the coronavirus in Europe and the associated measures for the protection of employees in Austria, the main course week in Vienna for the 28th CEPA Main Course 2020 from 15 March to 20 March 2020 is cancelled as a precautionary measure.
After the one-week course interruption, the CEPA Main Course 2020 will be continued as planned on 22 March 2020 in Bratislava/Slovakia.
Cancellation of the CEPA specialist seminar "Hostage-taking/kidnapping/extortion
Due to the current spread of the coronavirus, the CEPA National Liaison Office in Switzerland cancelled the CEPA specialist seminar "Hostage-taking/Kidnapping/Extortion" in Biel/CH from 20 to 23 April.
The 28th CEPA Main Course 2020 was opened in Prague
The 28th CEPA Main Course 2020 will take place from 17 February to 03 April 2020. This course will be held at the seven venues of the CEPA member countries, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. On 17.02.2020 the CEPA Main Course was opened in Prague by representatives of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and the Police Academy in Prague. During the opening speech the pro-rector of the Police Academy of the Czech Republic in Prague, Mr. doc. Dr. jur. Harald Scheu, Mag. phil., PhD. mentioned the importance of the international training of the CEPA and praised the good cooperation between the CEPA countries.
The main course will last seven weeks and 25 participants from the CEPA countries will attend this CEPA training. The participants will learn about legal and strategic elements as well as operational and tactical measures to combat organized crime. Theoretical and practical methods for cross-border and police cooperation form the core of this CEPA training.
In the course of the course, experts from the CEPA countries will present the latest trends and methods for fighting organized crime to the participants. Offences such as trafficking in human beings, drug-related crime and property crime will be covered in this course, as well as the latest manifestations of "cyber-crime".
Participation in practical exercises in modern and efficient crime fighting should demonstrate the practical added value of this course.
During the main course, the 25 participants attend workshops, whereby various tasks relating to the topic of "white-collar crime in connection with the Internet and money laundering" are to be dealt with in the 7 weeks. A case from the practice serves as a basis. At the end of the course, the results of the workshops are presented to a panel of experts. The workshops will be accompanied or led by experienced experts from Germany and Slovakia.
